The Russian alphabet consists of 33 letters: 21 consonants, 10 vowels, and two letters without sound - the soft sign and the hard sign Slovio transliteration uses only the basic latin letters found on any keyboards, no special signs, no apostrophies.
**NOTE: the above is the transliteration of Russian and Bulgarian alphabets into Slovio, rather than into English, therefore some of the sounds don't exactly correspond. In Slovio the russian sound "x" can be pronounced either as hard "H" as in hurry, hotel, hello, or as the sound "KH" which is equivalent to "ch" in Scottisch "Loch Ness", or to "ch" in "Bach", or to spanish "J" in "Jose, Juan, etc." The sound and the letter "H" as in "hurry" does not exist in Russian or Bulgarian.
